Converting VHS to other format?

Question

I have a collection of VHS tapes and I would like to convert them to files to store and later burn. How can I do that?

I am getting an iMAC very soon if that helps.

I have no other choice but to convert because these videos are not being released as DVD's ANY time soon.

Please help meh?
