What i would like to do is convert a/c to d/c.What i am trying to is to attatch my small car amp to my small subwoofer .The reason why i just dont buy a receiver is that i want to carry to work but not carry a big thing around and plug into a wall. So my question is., is there a thing that i can buy so i can convert a/c to d/c

  1. Most wall chargers for anything use A/C to D/C converters actually, so yes:

  2. or you could just build your own with a small transformer , a bridge rectitier , capacitor and a voltage regulator :)...

im not sure that a wall socket would be able to put out the current your looking for.....most amplifiers in a car use atleast a 60 amp fuse...and batteries but out i dunno say 700 cca....im not sure what amperage you would be looking for to run an amp, and im also not sure of how many amps a wall socket puts out

  3. First of all, DO NOT GET THE BATTERY Charger as reccommeded below.  Most chargers are not well regulated or filtered.  My guess is that all you would hear through your amp would be an obnoxious humm when powering the amp from a charger.

Also, How large of an Amp??  A small wall power adapter most likely would not have teh required current to run even car radio, let alone power amp.

You need to find out the Amperage requirements of your amp, and then get a 12VDC power supply.  Radil shack used to sell such things way back, to power up a Car CB radio in your house.  Check them, and any other electronic retailer.  Best Buy may even have something .

    Good luck!

  4. there is.......

But what are you trying to convert exactly? 110V AC to 12 DC?

if so, get a cheap battery charger, the ones they use for car chargers
