  1. If you are only talking about conversion, then your files won't be deleted. It already happened to me.

I was supposed to format my hard drive from fat32 to ntfs and install an upgraded version of Windows XP. During the format process, the 'Convert to NTFS' option was there so that was what I chose. I thought it was the same as formatting the computer where all of my files would be deleted, but to my surprise, after the installation finished, my files and previously installed programs were still there.

So I assume if you plan to convert your hard drive (C) to ntfs your files will still be there. But just to be safe and sure, create a backup or copy your files to a flash disk before you continue with your system file conversion.

  2. Format your system but make a back up of your data befor you do that. During installation choose NTSC and install your operating system.

IF you dont do backup, you will lose your data.

  3. Yep, ntfs & fat32 are file systems. switching them will effectively format your hard drive. and Yes, backup your files and be prepared to spend some time reinstalling everything.
