  1. The only cons I can actually think of are:

1/ You need to check your stabilizer level at least twice a season, preferably more. When you go salt, you're no longer using chlorine pucks. Those pucks ( the better quality ones) contain cyanuric acid in them (stabilizer), so they actually help keep your stabilizer level up a bit. Once you've gone salt, you still need that stabilizer level maintained and so must add it as a stand alone chemical, usually through the skimmer but only whenever your level drops below about 60. No biggie.

2/ The initial cost of the unit. They are a little pricey but they WILL pay for themselves over a couple of seasons and then it's ALL savings.

The pros? Everything else. They're a great alternative to traditionally chlorinated sanitizing systems and even easier to maintain.

For you to convert is easy to boot. You don't have to dump the pool. Traditional chlorine and salt are compatible. If your pool was Bromine or Baquicil there'd be an issue though.
