Converting gas to wood as main heat source....?

We would like to gonvert from natural gas to wood heat. We have a wood burner. How do we tell if our chiminey is adequate? We do not have very much money, so we are looking for information.

  1. Check with your insurance company to see if that can be added to your coverage.Your wood stove must also be an approved design.

    Your chimney must be intact with no damaged areas.

    You cannot vent a gas appliance in the same chimney for wood.

    If you had a gas appliance vented to that chimney it may have an aluminum liner installed and that will need to be removed.

    If the chimney is damaged it will need a stainless steel liner for wood.

    I know of no company that will give a free inspection of your chimney unless they are trying to sell you a unit from them to install.


  2. Call a fireplace instalation company to come out for a free inspection on your chiminey!
