Converting .lit files to txt files?

I need to convert a .lit file to a text file without any downloading for free( if not possible then one that can be downloaded but for free)

I don't know how to do it without downloading a program.  If you're running Windows, you can download Microsoft Reader.  If, like me, you're a Mac user, then I would recommend MacLit.  I currently have it up and running and have never had issues with it, and it is also free.
