I am struggling how to convert measurements.

Could someone possibly be able to help me understand. In basic, please..I'm really slow.

I have this table that I can't dechiper. It has Kilo ( 0.001), Heckta (0.01), Deka (0.1), Standard ( 1.0), Deci (10.0), Centi (100.0), Milli (1000.0).

Could you also check If I have answer this correctly:

18.41lb - weight in kg == 18.41 x 1kg/2.21lb = 40.50?

I'm losing hope... I feel that I'm going to fail my chemistry test /lab...

  1. The metric system measures  mass ( weight)

distance/ length,   and volume .There are different names for each measure but the same prefixes are used.

    Kilo. (0.001).. Hecta( 0.01)...Deka(0.1).. St. (1.0), Deci. (10.0)..Centi(1

( This table should be in one straight line.)

    Let's Do Distance/ length:

So let's say I want to change 6 kilometres into decimetres.

Put your finger on kilo in the table above.

As you go to the right to deci., you pass through 3 decimal values.

So you move the decimal point 3 places to the right.

    So 6. km. = 6000. decimetres.

Lets say i want to change  50 cm. to  hectametres.

Put your finger on the centimetrres.

Go left until you get to hectametres.

You've passed through 4 decimal values.

You will move the decimal point 4 places LEFT.

    So 50. cm. = .0050  hectametres

Question 2:   In this question your are changing from the English System to the Metric System.

    2.2 pounds = 1 kg.

    18.4 pounds =  18.4  divided by 2.2 = ..........kg.

    .........................................

Main Measures of Volume :  ml,  l,  kl

Main Measures of Length:  cm,  m,  km

Main Measures of Mass:  mg,  gm ,  kilogram,  tonne
