    1 cup = 225mg

But as mentioned corn sugar or syrup is used in soda. The more general term glucose syrup is often used synonymously with corn syrup, since the former is most commonly made from corn starch.[2] Technically glucose syrup is any liquid starch hydrolysate of mono, di, and higher saccharides[3] and can be made from any sources of starch; wheat, rice and potatoes are the most common sources.

High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is a variant in which other enzymes are used to convert some of the glucose into fructose. The resulting syrup is sweeter and more soluble.

HFCS, table sugar, honey, and several fruit juices all contain the same simple sugars.

HFCS is safe and no different from other common sweeteners like table sugar and honey.

HFCS has the same number of calories as table sugar.

HFCS is equal in sweetness to table sugar.

HFCS keeps foods fresh. It enhances fruit and spice flavors. It retains moisture in bran cereals and helps keep breakfast bars moist.

  2. Kool Aid. They had an ad campaign a few years back were they said they had 1/3 the sugar of pop.

Milligrams are less than cups when using a 1:1 ratio. One cup is roughly 300 or so mg.

    EDIT:

    Grams...still smaller 1 cup is 128 g.

You also need to take into account that high fructose corn syrup is far more concentrated than sugar. Don't have the exact math, but something like a teaspoon of HFCS is equal to a cup of sugar.

  3. Well, Pepsi uses high fructose corn syrup... not sugar, so it's kind of a moot point. That said, I think beverages sweetened with natural sugar instead of HFCS are probably better for you.
