Converting outdoor storage room to gym?

Hi I got a small storage room outdoor and its just a concrete floor and brick wall with a roof that is supported by wooden joists and i'm sure was corrugated iron outside but now has this proper water proofing sheet on boards I think. it has an old window that doesn't shut. The brick wall is bare no plastering or anything just a bare wall.

Anyway I was wondering If I wanted to use it to bench would I benefit from any modification?

  1. First thing to check before you continue. Local Planning Laws.

    They vary council to council.

In Slough you need permission before changing a Garage or 'outhouse' to a 'living area' such as a kitchen or, in your case a gym'

HOWEVER, in Slough, if the outdoor room is SCREWED onto the wall it is called a temporary structure and requires no planning permission. If it is bolted on, it is a permenant structure.

Many of these laws date back from when there was a single planning office but some laws vary so check first or get it knocked down by the government later.

  2. Yes if you create a workout atmosphere than your workout will be more intense
