Converting pants to a skirt?

Question

Does anyone have any tips or ideas on how to convert an old pair of flared pants into a long-ish skirt? The pants are too big for me now, but I loved the fabric (it is all black, with embroidered florals/leaves).

I started out by cutting out the inner-leg seams (so now the fabric needs to be sewed together in some manner), but am not sure how to best continue. Does anyone have any tips? Otherwise I will wing this and hope it works!

The best way to turn long pants into a long skirt is to find another piece of material to stick in between the gap where the pant legs are.
