  1. 3x+2y=6

    -3x       -3x

    2y=-3x+6

    ---------------

    2     2   2

    y= -3/2 + 3

  2. 3x+2y=6 subtract 3x from both sides

    2y=6-3x divide both sides by 2

    y=-1.5x+3

  4. Isolate the y term to one side of the equals sign.

    3x + 2y = 6

    2y = -3x + 6

    Give the y term a coefficient of 1.

    y = (-3/2)x + 3

  5. subtract the x: 2y=-3x+6

    divide by 2: y=-3/2x+3
