Um I'm guessing your question is how to convince your parents to save energy?  if it is then, if you start then they  may follow.  Start by making a pile for recylcing materials and make sure it gets picked up for recycling or that you take it there.  Also, keep in mind when purchasing things, what uses recycled materials and decide if you want to continue that focus in your purchases.  Also, use more dishes and less paper plates.  use a towel, instead of papertowel to wipe up a mess.  Things like that help save trees.   See if you have a thermostat that can be timed to control the temperature.  You can save money by only running it when its truly needed.  Do you really need it running during those hours when you're sleeping, probably not.
