I live in Ireland, I mean it's awesome but where I live I'm most unlikely to get anywhere into movie buisness. I go to the biggest acting acadamy in Ireland but I feel I'm not getting anywhere. I've asked my mom a million times for an acting agent but she thinks I'm joking. I don't know much about them except you have to show them what you can do but I do know my inspirations talked to their moms about getting an agent. Sorry I'm babbling on what I'm trying to say is how do I convince my mom to get me and agent.

  1. I know that you're not bragging, but have you been approached by anyone for any sort of work in the industry? If you go to the biggest acting academy in Ireland, surely there are talent scouts looking for actors all the time!

You should probably ask at your academy if they have any agencies that you could get into contact with yourself- you can do a little investigating and then present the idea to your mother.

  2. Just because your in an acting academy doesnt mean you instantly sky rocket into fame. I think you should wait it out before you ask for an agent. I mean, no one gets noticedright away. If you stay atthe academy they will probably show you somethings you never thought of that can help you later on in the acting industry. I personally think you should wait it out.

  3. Depends if ur good or not. Have u been in a ton of plays and other stuff like that? Otherwise your nothing better than other chicks who want to be rich and famous

  4. There's an old saying: "If you keep doing what you are doing, you will keep getting what you are getting."

One question. Why does mom think you are joking?

You said you've asked a million times... If you keep asking her in the same way, what kind of response do you think you will get? Probably the same right? So why keep asking her in the same way? You have to change your approach if you want different results. One thing that will help you is if you know A LOT more about the business than she does and can make intelligent arguments to help your case. If you can't do that, then you will always be at a disadvantage.

Have a look at this page on my site for new and aspiring actors. It has links to 23 pages that have to do with different aspects of starting an acting career including how to convince your parents, how to actually have the conversation with them,  how to get started in the business, 17 things you can do to get started, ways to promote yourself and how to get an agent. http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/teen_...
