  1. peting a cat can help lower stress levels and can cheer people up make sure you litter box train it

  2. I love my cat and I've never had any trouble with her peeing on the carpet I trained her to use the litter box right away.My benefit of having her is she make's me happy and it's great to just cuddle with her and play with her and all that stuff.Well I hope he let's you get a cat.Hope I helped good luck.

  3. Convincing your father with stories as to their benefits is not the right way to bring a cat into a home.  And if your father objects THAT strongley then you would be doing any cat a huge diservice by bringing it into your home because there IS NO guarantee that even the best behaved cat won't urinate on a rug or bed especially if it gets sick.

If your father says no, then he may not even be willing to help you monetarily with the expenses of keeping a cat and all its basic needs.

No.  You can't win your father over with "benefits" stories.  I tried it myself all my youthful life and just had to be content with a family dog and when I was grown and married then my husband presented me with one that I'd always wanted.

  4. First, I hate the concept of free kittens. Let your friend know that the little bitty kitties should be at least 8 weeks old before they leave. The ideal age for a kitten to leave his/her mother is 12 weeks, but this does not often happen. Also let your friend know that he/she MUST make sure that the kitties are going to good, responsible people who will make sure they have a nice life and that they get spayed/neutered.

Now, to convince your dad... You need to get the kitty litterbox trained as soon as possible. If this happens, you've started housebreaking early and it will stick with them. Convince your dad that you will not let the kitty pee on the rug. Make a list of reasons why you should get a cat and how you will be a responsible owner. It sounds like overkill, but really, it isn't. It's up to you! I would also do some internet research about cat care; it might help. Good luck with your dad and with the (hopefully) kitty!

    :-)

  5. explain to him that they are independent and look after themselves. it is easy for me to say this but you have to prove you are ready. show you are capable. prove to him you can do it. do your chores and get good grades =] i had to do the bribary thing first. it did not work because my parents got sick of me always going on and on. so begging does not work. i had to prove i could do it. i got a hamster first and proved i could keep care of an animal. you really just have to hsow you are right for the job.

as for peeing around the carpet. my cat only ever peed once in the house. when she did it i took her straight to her litter tray and she always done it in there. personally i think as cats are wild animals they shouldn't be kept indoors all day. that would make the house smell etc and they wouldn't have there natural habitat around them which would mak ethem fat and angry..

the benifits of having a cat to a dog are..

    *they are independent

    *they clean themselves

*they do not have to be walked

*they sleep alot but are playful when they want to be

*they do not need to be taken for  walks

    *generally very very very loveable

    good luck!

  6. you should kidnap a kitty and play with it at home to show your dad how much you love cats and how good you are with them. keep bringing cats home till he is forced to get you one =]

EDIT** of course i mean to give the cat back when youre done!!

  7. he can't base a cat on one tiny  thing.

here you can tell your dad what you will do:

1]you can keep him in your room. untill potty trained.

2] you will be the one who cleans the cat litter.

3]you will give him food, water.

4] and by the slight chance that the cat dose! p**s one the carpet you will be the one who cleans it up.

i have 4 cats and yea the sometimes pee where they're not suppose to but i just clean it up and it's fine.

    Good luck!

  8. *Cats don't pee on the floor unless

    --They are sick

--Their litter box is so dirty they refuse to use it

--An un-neutered male cat spraying (not actually pee, they wont do this if neutered)

Tell your dad that you will change its litter on a regular basis so he doesn't have to deal with cat pee!

    *Cats are very low-maintenance

-They don't need baths, clean themselves

-Most cats will not over-eat if you leave food out throughout the day

-Don't require walking, but do need some stimulation

*Cats are known to have a calming affect on people by purring - has shown to lower blood pressure.

    *Cats are incredibly entertaining pets!

Be aware, the whole "pee story" is likely just an excuse. Be prepared to argue against some other 'cons' he might bring up, including

*Scratching (make sure it has a scratching post of some kind)

    *Vet expenses + food/litter costs

    *Shedding

*Allergies (if anyone in your household is allergic to cats)

Just stay focused on the positives and how they outweigh the negatives.

  9. Not only do cats give love and add character to any home( and I know they do because I have seven with kittens on the way), but they also are helpful sometimes.  They teach responsibility, and they can be your best freind when you need it most!

They are also helpful in other ways.  Once, when we first moved in, my dad got bitten by a snake.  We were not familiar with the area, so we did not know if it was venomous or not!  Well, we found it to be mildly venomous and it kept my dad in the hospital for a few days.  A couple years later, when we got our first outside cat from an abandoned barn, we had completely forgotten about the incident.  Sure enough, on the first day of having him with us, our cat caught one of those snakes!

  10. pets make good companions. But you have to remember that having a cat is expensive and is a big responsibility. Your parents are not telling you no to hurt you but maybe they just doing want that expense right now.

  11. Wait until you are grown up and have a home of your own to get destroyed by your pets.  That odor is impossible to remove.
