ok..here's the story,

i'm 17 (and half), straight A student, still in high school, usually ride my bike to school, approximately 5 miles(round trip)(not that far, but its all hills----up, down,round&round..............). when i dont ride my bike, i was usually stuck at school or some place else for hours because they need to pick me up.

next year, i'm going to another high school which the only way to commute is by car. they insisted on the idea that they CAN send&pick me EVERYDAY.

Also, i blew many job opportunities because of not having reliable transportation.

i found some pretty good deal online, then i told them, dad says its not time.........-_-!..mom says she doesnt like used cars.......(but she doesnt want to get me a new car either.)........

how to convince my dad that i really need a car?

how to convince my mom that second-hand isnt that bad??

help me out here,please.........

  1. Why have you not worked in the past and saved the money yourself?

You might try to talk to your dad first and ask what you can do to convince him, he may just be worried about his baby girl driving or something that you are not aware of.

  2. for dad, tell him that you will get a job and help him with some payments, and prove to be respionsible enought...

for mom, tell her that alot of used cars are better because they have custom engines that will last longer and run better.

  3. OK, there are a few options you have here....since your 17 and a half, you can legally buy a car anywhere, and at 18, you can buy your own insurance....take matters into your own hands.

talk to them about it, ask them the real reason, and not the answers they are giving you. you can convince your mom that a used car isn't bad by giving her some research on what can be done to show a person that used isn't bad, like car-fax, auto shops that do diagnostics tests, stuff along those lines. talk to people that own used cars and tell her about those people and what they think. personally, i own a used Nissan 240sx, i love it, its a great car. if i had the option between this car and a new car, i would choose this car

as for your dad, talk to him about why you need a car, tell him about your jobs and how you could really be earning some cash if you had a job and a car, tell him about school and how a car can be helpful...right here is a good example...our school had a fire in the wood shop, we all got the old fire drill plan pulled on us and we were sitting there for hours. we couldn't go in and parents couldn't come pick people up because of the fire trucks. if i had not had a car, i would of been stuck at a school for hours extra then i had to. its more then a want issue, a car is a safety issue.

and insted of ask them to buy you a car, save for one and for insurance, that will show them you truely want on....i saved 3300$ for my 240sx and it was totally worth it

hit me up if you want more ideas on help, im good at this kind of thing

and the dude above me is right about custom parts....my car has bucket racing seats, 4 point racing harnesses and a roll bar, with a 75 hp nitrous shot in a custom engine...that alone is about 9 grand right there....and i payed 3300....

  4. I don't know if your a girl or boy but Go ahead and apply for a few jobs and when they say your hired let them take you to and from for a while, they will get tired of that. And if they won't take you to work then just give them a guilt trip (let them know that they are the reason you are going lose job). Tell them that you'll pay for the insurance and whatever you need to do.      This is a last resort:     Or just go buy a real piece of c**p and start driving it. you can find them for less than $600 usually, But they may see just how serious you are, and help you get a decent ride.......Good Luck
