When I was 13, I had 2 hamsters, and I loved them, but i eventually started to get lazy, and didnt take care of them like I should and they sadly died. After that, I realized that I wasnt ready to take care of a pet.

Now Im almost 16, and I want to prove to my parents that I AM ready now to take care of a pet, but they are stuck on my previous experience with hamsters and said no. But Im almost 3 years older and a lot more responsible and I think that I can take care of a hamster.

advice?

  1. Ask them to get you a gold fish and if it lasts longer then a year.... then you can get a hamster!!

  2. I was in  your position about a month ago :D

Write a list of some good and bad points of getting a hamster...

For each bad point, put how it could be solved :D

  3. I just convinced my parents. I did tons of research like cages, hamster care, health. I got books. I made a book concisting of these: Supplies, Info, Schedule, Contract, Names, Hamster breeds, 31 reasons why I should get a hamster. I helped and did big chores. I shown I was responsible. If they say their smelly there is a litter box called " Critertrail playground corner toilet" google it it rocks. Tell them that you would pay the expenses and they would not lift a finger. Now Im geting a hamster on Thursday for my B- day! Before they said no now they say yes!!!!!!!!!

  4. Do stuff around the house to show youre parents you are responsible. I , in the mean time will stick to my 2 goldfish!

  5. Well for starters, how about trying the following:

#1 Cleaning your room and making sure that it STAYS clean and tidy.

#2 Making sure that your homework is done and handed in on time.

#3 Sweep the floors in the living room and kitchen without your parents asking you to.

#4 Wash and/or dry the dishes.

#5 Do not fight and argue with your sisters & brothers.

#6 Eat what you are given and don't whine or make "yuck" faces when given it.

#7 Don't talk rudly to adults

#8  Always share with other kids.

#9 Go to bed when you are told to.

#10 Research the pet and breed you want to be 100% certain that it is the right one for you.

    # 11 Ask them about getting this new pet in a nice way and don't beg and whine about it.

If 100% sure that if you give those a try, they will see that you are serious about wanting to add a this pet to you life and family. :)

  6. I'm about your age. About 16 is old enough to be responsible.

Read books about hamsters and if the opportunity arises metion some facts about them.

Yeah help around the house, don't do anything "bad", respect your parent and treat them nicely

Explain to them how much more responsible you are now, talk to them like a adult and show them you can handle a hamster.

The best way that would conveince them PAY FOR EVERYTHING YOURSELF!

    Good luck!
