  1. The best way I can think of is to prove to your parents that you are responsible enough to wear them.  Contacts require more responsibility on your part to care for the lenses and your eyes as well.

The youngest person I know to wear contacts was 10 years old and had to prove to her parents that she was responsible enough to care for them by keeping her eyes healthy, cleaning her lenses properly, and following her doctor's wear schedule.  She also had additional duties around the house as well to show her responsibilty.

You can also suggest a compromise with your parents and contacts.  Ask your parents to allow you to get the contacts and if you do not follow the doctor's wear schedule or fail to clean your lenses property that they can take the lenses away from you until you are responsible enough to wear them.

I think your parents have valid concerns.  I know some adults who do not care properly care for their lenses and end up with eye infections on a fairly regular basis. They will wear the lenses for several days without cleaning them.  I wish their doctors would just stop prescribing the lenses to them.

    I hope this helps

  2. Before you get contacts you should know that they are very frustrating. I have had them for a month now and i still have trouble getting them in. You could explain to your parents that glasses are kind of embarrassing at your age. You may just want to find a pair of glasses that you like a lot.

  3. i'd like to know too

    but

if all else fails, get your subscription that the eye doctor get you and go to the pharmacy, (by yourself) and ask if they can help you get you contacts with your subscription, they will most likely help you, and you can get disposable ones or the real ones,

they are around 10-15$ i believe

    hope that helps

  4. tell them contacts cost cheaper than glasses do, and get the eye doc to explain your options. A lot of 14 year olds wear contacts, it is a good age to start.

  5. i am a parent and i was reluctant to get my child contacts but i was told they improve eyesight better than glasses and if u get the dailies that u throw away after each use then u should be okay good if u play sports also

  6. have them talk to the eye dr. along with you. There is NO reason that I can think of to not allow you to wear them and I think the eye dr. would wholly agree. Ask them to make you an appt. asap!

  7. Well...I understand where your parents are coming from.  I have a 13 yr old who will be starting high school this fall and has the same concerns.  Her dad and I would much rather she wait but she doesn't seem to want to.  She's been talking about it with us for sometime now and I'm trying to be more understanding about it.  I personally don't wear glasses so it's hard for me.  We to have many concerns as parents.  I would try to talk to your folks again and perhaps they may reconsider.  Good luck!!
