Convincing positions at Hockenheim leaves Peter Sauber Delighted – Formula 1 news
Principal of team Sauber Peter Sauber is happy with the performance of his team at the German Grand Prix. Last Sunday, the team managed to finish at 4th and 6th positions at Hockenheim.
The team principal congratulated his team for a convincing performance in the last grand prix. Kamui Kobayashi started at 12th grid position and finished the race at 4th place whereas Sergio Perez held 17th grid position and finished the race at 6th place.
“We started from P12 and P17 and finished fifth and sixth (before Vettel's penalty). I think it's fair to say this performance was outstanding, and it was rewarded by 18 championship points. Congratulations to the drivers who both did an excellent job, and
thank you to the whole team,” Sauber said.
Kobayashi said that they could have achieved a better place in the race as their strategy was effective and they had the capabilities to produce good results on a dry circuit. He added that despite being unable to produce good results in the last two races,
they could have ended the last race at a better place if they had a better grid place.
The Japanese driver said, “I am very happy for the team that we have managed to get a good result again. We have been unlucky in the two most recent races, and also had a bad qualifying yesterday.”
The Mexican driver added to his teammate by saying that he is happy at their comeback after a bad qualifying round. He said that they were able to achieve steady speeds on the circuit, however, the strategy he had planned for the German GP could not work,
because he had to do a pit stop earlier than he had planned. Therefore, he had to extend the time to second pit stop which resulted in old, worn out tyres.
Furthermore, he said that he felt something unusual with the left side of his car but he has been unable to investigate what was wrong. However, he is happy with the German GP and is looking forward towards the upcoming grand prix at Budapest this coming
weekend.
