my friend and i made cookies we followed the recipe but have no idea what went wrong!!!!!! Here is the recipe we got it from http://www.allhomemadecookies.com/

SNICKERDOODLE

These old fashioned cookies are easy to make in this drop cookie recipe.

I used to take the time to roll each cookie into balls and then rolled them in the sugar-cinnamon mixture when I realized that they would be just as tasty and attractive as drop cookies. Save the work for the cookies that look fancy after the time investment.

1 cup butter

3/4 cup brown sugar

3/4 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 3/4 cups flour

2 teaspoons cinnamon

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 cups old fashioned oats

2 teaspoons sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and lightly grease cookie sheets. Cream together the butter, brown sugar and 3/4 cup sugar until light and fluffy. In a small bowl beat together the eggs and vanilla, then mix into the butter mixture. In a medium bowl whisk together the flour, two teaspoons cinnamon, baking soda, and salt. Blend the flour mixture into the butter mixture and stir in the oats. Drop by the teaspoonful onto the prepared sheets. In a small bowl mix together the two teaspoons sugar with the teaspoon cinnamon and sprinkle over the cookies.

Bake for 7 to 10 minutes. Cool for 2 minutes on the cookie sheets, then remove to wire racks to finish cooling. Store in airtight containers or freeze.

  1. Several things could be wrong:

You could try chilling  the dough before you bake it.

And as one poster noted the temperature in your oven could be off/to high.

Also, check your baking soda..is it old? It can become inactive after a time.

When you cream the butter is it room temp? How did you let it get that way? If you tried to microwave it or it's really hot outside the butter could have been to soft to begin with .

And even though it's more work I'd stick to rolling the cookies into balls before baking them. They look nicer and I bet they'll come out nicer too.

  2. Use a thermometer and measure the heat of your oven. It may be off.

  3. We we make Snickerdoodles, we make the balls and chill them, so the cookie doesn't spread out to flat.

    They nice and chewy too.

    Try it next time.

  4. I always keep the dough in the fridge overnight when I know I'm going to make cookies. They fluff up better.

  5. that means you made the cookies to big to start
