Ok, so I have just purchased a pack of fresh Gnocchi and I am a tad confused about how to cook it!! It says on the back of the pack, to boil, but.... I want to pan fry it! Can I just cook it in the fry pan with a little oil or not??

I then want to add some bacon and pesto, pine nuts, ect??

Or do I BOIL IT FIRST?????

  1. First boil it then saute it in butter. I think that's what you mean. You probably don't want to pan fry Gnocchi, do you?

  2. You should boil the gnocchi first and cook them "al dente", not too soft though, usually when they float to the top it means that they are ready.

Than you can sautee them briefly in a pan with your favourite sauce, but try to be gentle as they can break quite easily.

  3. Par Boil first, then you can saute in oil or butter or both.  the bacon should be fried ahead, drained on paper towels, thenadded to your gnocci (en-yo-kie). Pine Nuts should be slightly browned in a dry non stick pan and added last.

  4. Par boil it first....meaning, dont boil it to completely done...if you overboil it ..its going to stick and youre going to have a huge mess.
