Cooking with 5 year olds...?

ok so i baby sit for a little girl and a little boy the little girl is 5 and the boy is 3. i no theres not alot for the boy cause of the age but is there any easy recipes for a 5 year old to be able to help with? maybe like chocolate chip cookies or peanut butter? how can i get them involved in the cooking? And what are some good recipes?

i cook with my 4 year old niece i put the ingredients in bowls and let her pour them into the big bowl and stir she loves it. Now every time i make something she says i wanna do the eggs

chocolate rice crispie cakes.

melt a block of cooking chocolate in a dish, over a saucepan of hot water. (your job!)

then stir in rice crispies until they are all coated in the chocolate.

spoon into cake cases and let them cool.

the boy will just want to be involved. give him some bread and a blunt knife and let him make the sandwiches (with help if needed)

another favourite in our house is banana milkshake.

peel 2 or 3 bananas, put them in a blender. add a pint of milk.

blend, and drink straight away.

I remember my grandmother letting us help make instant pudding. It was so easy and we all got to take turns holding the electric mixer, which we loved to use! Then we would get to l**k the beaters bowl and spoon which was even more fun than having a serving of pudding.

My little boy is 3½ and loves to "help" me to cook. If I make muffins, he helps to stir the mixture and puts the ingredients in a bowl (measured out by me, of course!) and if we make cookies, I let him roll out his own little bit of dough, to make his own! Kids LOVE this kind of thing!

Well you might be able to add in the 3 year old with some simple stuff. I had to make a simple cake for a boys 6th birthday while the family went on a walk. But one little girl Ashley(4) Stayed behind and she helped me put in the ingredients and such. Also another 5 year old girl helped me ice cup cakes. Just show them how to do it its really easy with a dull knife or spoon and they'll be so proud! Most anything will work, buy some cake mix or cup cakes thats what i did. Just let them put in the ingredents and help mix. They get so proud! Haha i also helped the 4 year old break an egg she was so proud because she didnt get any shell into the bowl!
