Graham Gooch, the batting coach of England, is all praise for the Test captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Cook-c1026, and feels that the best of the left-handed opener in international cricket is yet to come.

The 27-year-old cricketer has held the Poms’ batting line-up together on the tour, emerging as one of the finest opening batsmen of the world. It is because of Cook’s efforts that the tourists are currently leading the four-match series 2-1, with the last match scheduled to begin from December 13, in Nagpur.
Cook has already scored more than seven thousand runs in Test cricket with the help of 23 centuries. The gutsy opener scores at an average of more than 50 runs per innings in the five-day format.
However, the former England captain is of the opinion that the best of the left-hander is yet to come as he is enhancing his skills with the passage of time. Gooch claims that Cook will dominate the world-sport and has a bright future ahead of him if he remains fit and hungry for runs.
“The years between 27 to 35 are the best years for a batsman because you have honed your knowledge and you know your game,” said the batting coach. “I think he's got his best years in front of him. He's got to stay fit and motivated but nothing at the moment would suggest to me that that won't happen.”
Gooch was the batting coach of Essex when Cook started his first-class career in 2003. Having observed the left-hander’s progress as a cricketer quite closely, the former skipper thinks that Cook’s biggest strength is the ability to maintain his composure.
“My early memories of him as a person were that he was very mature for his age and very balanced and considered. He went about his cricket in a methodical sort of way and you can still see that now,” the former England captain added.
