Cooktop downdraft blower control k**b broke off

I saw your reply re a CVE3400. My control k**b broke off a while back and I can't figure out what to do. It's a friction (slide on) attachment but the sleeve of the broken part iis still inside the cooktop and I have no tool narrow enough to grasp it. Is there a way to lift the glass top away?
