Question:

Cool things to do with a Rogue (D&D)?

I'm just looking for some cool things I can do with my 4th level rogue in a new D&D campaign, I usually play a halberd fighter so I'm new to this class.

It's irritating I'm used to doing like 1d10+9 damage at this level and I'm stuck doing 1d6+2d6.

I have sight of hand, hide, ect. all maxed. The things a rogue needs to be useful.

Using a keen rapier, sap, hand crossbow, dagger.

A lot of stuff to work with. Hydra teeth, oil, alchemist fire, caltrops, drow poison.

Did I mention I'm chaotic evil?

So yeah, ideas?

  1. Break into a rich man's house. Find the deed to his house. Forge his signature on it signing it over to you. Kick him out of his own home.

IF the spell fire trap is available to an allied magic user and if it follows AD&D 2nd edition rules he could place the spell on the enamil of your teeth. The enamil is NOT alive so it could be placed there. (just be sure it is understood your charecters mouth is closed at the time) Now because you are what the spell was placed on the spell will not hurt YOU when activated. It is activated by opening the thing it was placed on, (in this case your charecter's mouth.) and of course you are the one to open it. End effect, a human with the temporary power of Dragon's Breath. Yes, I have played D&D a little, lol.

  2. I'm a little confused on the Damage, what exactly irritates you....

Your Rouge does 3 to 18 points plus backstab bonus and your fighter only did 10 to 19. Not much difference, and the rouge has easier use of poisons and the sneak, hide and backstabing..... Rouge is at least even if not ahead in the combat domain!

PS...To David ...a fire trap does effect all that it touches... and your "enamel is just that YOUR enamel so a Saving throw is in order...and technically the fire trap is set on the object.(outside the chest, as to not cook the contents of the chest)

Me and my group avg over 20 year experience. With Four of us starting  before 1980!

And it is our group opinion that the idea is good (even great), but the execution needs work!

  3. I assume you are playing 3.5?

Consider getting Two Weapon Fighting to improve your combat ability - since you can get the Sneak Attack bonus on all your attacks, you want as many attacks as you can get!

In a fight, look for ways to flank, and to use your evasiveness to get to foes like spellcasters who might be hiding behind enemy fighters.  Fight creatively - use the terrain, use skills to disorient your foes.

If you have the time to plan, consider setting traps, laying in ambush, even fast talking your opponents into bad places.

Don't try to mess up the game just because you're a chaotic evil rogue - you can still be loyal to your friends and allies.

If you want good feats, go to the WotC boards at www.wizards.com/dnd and look for the Character Optimization forum for 3.5 edition - those people will give you every cool feat suggestion you could want!

    Happy gaming.
