  1. Go to a craft store and make your own!  Since scrap booking is so popular now, there are tons of different papers, stamps and techniques to really make something original.  Plus this way you can get exactly what you want and still save some money.

  2. Invitations by Dawn does some really cool and themed invites as well as personally created ones. I know 2 people who used them and loved them.

You can always make your own, scrapbooking is HUGE right now. You could design and create them using that stuff.

Or, buy some of those pre-cut blank 5x7 puzzles and make puzzle invites. They would be more expensive to send but would be awesome!!!

    Good luck ( =

  3. It depends on your budget really. Refer to any bridal mag for some names of printers. Ask for samples and if they are able to do customisation.

I had a really small wedding (only 44 pax) so I decided to go for $1 a piece invites at Joo Chiat complex (not my type of thing but I just had to grit my teeth then). Invites are some of the mementos of your wedding and will always be special to the bride and groom (though my friends say they are things that people throw away after the event itself) so it really depends on what is more important to you.

Don't stinge if you really want it to be something special. You'll end up thinking about it for the rest of your life. What I did to make up for the invites was to print customised stamps with our wedding picture on it.

    Most importantly have fun!

  4. Make it a thematic one! I recently got married and my wife and I decided to have a coffee/cafe-themed wedding since we both love to drink coffee and a cafe played a very integral part in our love story.  We entitled our wedding "The Perfect Blend".

Instead of going to the usual wedding invitation makers, we decided to do it ourselves by getting brochures from Starbucks, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and other cafes.  Since I know Photoshop, I made the layout and design myself which was greatly inspired by the brochures.  Our motif was wine red with a touch of gold.  It was a good thing that I had a friend who is multimedia artist, she gave me advice and tips on how to go about it. And she also created the logo of our invite and wedding.

We made sure that the theme resonated in the invited.  The list of the entourage was entitled "Spices and Sweeteners", the map and directions to the venue, we entitled "Follow the Beans" and we put beans with the arrows in the map. The RSVP card instead asked "Icy or Steamy?".  And to make it more personal, the front of the invite had some pictures we took which were very memorable to us (e.g. holding hands with a cup of coffee beside)  The envelopes we had a pattern printed and we glued it ourselves.  We wrapped the envelope with a strip of corrugated cardboard to create the effect of a coffee cup holder.  We ended up saving a lot because of what we did and everyone that received the invite always commented on how unique, personal and well-made our invites are! :)

My suggestion, make your invite personal and thematic.  I've seen other invites in magazines that are really cool and creative because it was based on a theme (e.g. Lord of the Rings theme, beach theme, etc.)  Choose something that really represents both of you and it will turn out to be both memorable for you and your guests.
