I have an 87 ford escort. My timing belt snapped last week, my friend who is a mechanic replaced it. Right after replacing it, i was having massive water leaks coming from right next to the timing belt. The water pump is also right in that area. When he replaced the timing belt there was a whining noise, so i drove it to his house to fix that. We took it for a test drive, the noise had gone away. But I was hearing a rattling noise so we pulled into a parking lot. I stepped out of the car right into a HUGE puddle of water. Within seconds there was at least a 3 by 5 foot puddle underneath my car, it was just a constant stream. The weird thing is, my temperature gauge read normal. And everything was full..i was basically missing no water. Now, it only seems to leak when I have my heater on..luckily i don't need that right now with the weather. But seriously..what could be going on?

  1. Leaking with the Heater On? Under the Car or on the Passenger flor board? "Under the Car; Hot Water Control Valve for the Heater or the Hose from the Valve. Pasenger Floor Board; Heater core.

  2. Heater Core!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. It’s possible that he over filled the reservoir tank and that was where the extra water escaped. As long as the radiator stays full you will be ok.

  4. Your car is over 20 yrs old, so i suspect your heater core is corroded and leaking. Check the carpeting on the front passenger side . If it's wet, then it's probably the core.

  5. your heater core is leaking. if your car has a water valve it blocks coolant from entering the heater core untill the heat is turned on. what sucks it the heater core is inside the dash.
