The Grade OR Williamhill.com Greyhound Derby 3rd Rnd Heat 7 is an anxiously awaited event at Wimbledon that is scheduled to take place on 12th May, 2012, where Droopys Jet, Coolavanny Bert, Blonde Snapper, Malbay Phanter, Farloe
Mysterio and Bit View Micko will race for the purse of £175 over a distance of 480 metres.
Coolavanny Bert is gaining the most popularity in the market, and he will enter the race from trap 2 with a winning shot of 15-8.
Along with him, Droopys Jet looks like the next best contender.
Coolavanny Bert, son of Wheres Pedro, out of Mercury Queen, fell short of all expectations in his career maiden, as he finished in last place on 29th September, 2011, but has shown remarkable improvement since then.
The J. Gardner trained hound landed six victories, out of eight starts this season. Two of those six victories took place at Wimbledon.
The black hound finished in first place on 20th April, 2012, where he defeated, Droopys Vito by a neck, and broke through the wire first in 28.97 seconds.
On 4th May, 2012, he landed 1½ lengths ahead of, Mill Maximus, in the Grade OR Williamhill.com Greyhound Derby 2nd Rnd Heat 1 at Wimbledon, where he completed the race in 28.62 seconds.
Droopys Jet, son of Slip The Lark, out of Droopys Mo, could give Coolavanny Bert a run for his money, as he will race with the winning odds of 9 to 4.
The F. Black trained hound triumphed over, Aero King, on 4th April, 2012, as he finished ahead of him by 6 lengths in 28.77 seconds at Wimbledon.
Whelped on 1st February, 2010, the hound finished as a runner-up in the Grade OR Heat 13 at Wimbledon, where despite his swift pace, he lost by a tremendous margin of 13 ½ lengths to, Razldazl Jayfkay, on 5th May,
2012.
The winner completed the race in 28.08 seconds, whereas Droopys Jet completed the race in 29.16 seconds.
F. Black ran Droopys Jet in a practice run at Wimbledon on 7th March, 2012, where he completed the 480 metre track in 28.93 seconds.
His familiarity with the track will definitely work in his favour, and it may benefit him a little.
The bookmakers are placing most of their bets on Coolavanny Bert, but Droopys Jet might get lucky and score in this race.
