Coolboy Blaze bagged The Night Continues At Napoleons Casino Race at Sheffield
Coolboy Blaze, a brindle dog trained by R Warren, narrowly won the Grade A1 The Night Continues At Napoleons Casino Race at Sheffield on January 17. The race was run over a distance of 500m.
In fact, the winner had to wrest victory from three other opponents named as Stepaside Glenis, Duckpool Lane and Russanda Ross. The other two participants in the race were Tohill Joy and Black Jess.
Despite being the most favourite hound with starting price of 11 to 10, Coolboy Blaze had to struggle hard for the victory as his competitors gave him a tough time throughout the track.
The break call came at 22:30. Coolboy Blaze broke from trap 2, and demonstrating sufficient speed, he took the lead early, but failed to perpetuate his momentum in the long run. Soon, Stepaside Glenis caught up with him.
Duckpool Lane and Russanda Ross were also behind them. This was not only a critical situation for Coolboy Blaze, but also a nail-biting time for the bookies, who had invested a lot on the favourite hound.
However, the talented dog managed to sail meticulously through the turbulent waters and finished first. He took 29.40 seconds to bridge the distance.
The son of Hades Rocket started his career in September 2009. The veteran dog has achieved a number of iconic victories so far. His yesterday’s hard-earned triumph was evident of his excellent skills.
It is expected that Coolboy Blaze will remain an ideal betting prospect for the calendar year provided he keeps his stamina unnerved.
Stepaside Glenis, with a slight margin of 0.1 seconds, finished second in the contest. The black b***h strived hard to win but in vain. However, the way she fought was marvellous and impressive.
Breaking from trap 5, the daughter of Stepaside Jill completed the distance in 29.41 seconds. Whelped in March 2009, the b***h debuted on September 17, 2010. She is trained by J R Smith.
The third spot went to Duckpool Lane, who troubled his two front runners, but lagged ½ a length behind. Trained by H Crapper, the black dog reached the boundary strap in 29.45 seconds. The son of Hondo Black was whelped in October 2009.
As a whole, it was a thrilling and amazing event which provided the locals with a healthy entertainment. The fierce competition among the top three hounds was worth seeing.
