I am still giving my 14 month old son boiled water as a drink (used to be with his formula) but I am wondering, is this still a rule? Or does everyone give ordinary unboiled tap water? It just occured to me the other day while I was boiling the kettle - should I still be doing this?!

  1. The recommendation when I was a young Mum was to give them boiled water up to 12 months.  Tap water afterwards.

  2. I asked this questioni to my health visitor on my son's 9month check up and she told me that I could start giving him tap water unboiled from the age of 1. Hope this helps

  3. My son is 13 months and I asked the health visitor this very same question a month ago, and she said that now he is a year old, I could use normal tap water, so I do.  I even used it in the short space of time he was having formula, but he has cows milk now instead.  He hasn't noticed any difference and it's so much easier!!  Good luck! x

  11. Yes, you need to boil your drinking water nowadays so as to kill the bacteria.  Or else, you will suffer from gastroenteritis (sp.?) And it will be more expensive to spend for medication.

Take care and GOD BLESS THE MOTHER AND CHILD!!!!!

  13. You should give your baby things you would give yourself. They cant develop an immune system if they are sheilded from bacteria.

  14. It's fine now for him to have tap water but it's probably just become habit with you something like you have mentioned, you didn't think about.
