Coolest under $100 LEGO set for an 8yr old Birthday...

Question

Would love to do a Lego Mindstorms but that's a bit over his head. Open to other brands as well! Any ideas appreciated!

I used to be an involved LEGO builder myself, and I suggest finding his/her interests (dinosaurs, cars, trains, etc.) and taking that information to this part of the LEGO website- http://shop.lego.com/ByAge/ select their age, and then you can set the arrangement by price, low-high, and then look through and pick the one you think they will enjoy the most.  I hope this helps, and good luck!

The lego Batman Batmobile and Joker set at Toys r Us is pretty sweet.  Costs about $50.
