  1. I only can recommend the Banderas Bay from Puerto Vallarta to Punta Mita and the Riviera Nayarit from Nuevo Vallarta to Chacala.

Check out Bucerias, Sayulita, Nuevo Vallarta, Bucerias, Chacala and Puerto Vallarta. Here are two directories with some ( not all ) information and many links.

If I could I would live in Punta Mita or Chacala.

But I made it only to Puerto Vallarta, which still is a top destination, with or without money.

  2. We like zihuatanejo (spelling?).  It's a typical large Mexican City just down the road from the Ixtapa resort area.  We've been there for the past three years in January and early February when the nights have been downright cool and the days quite warm and comfortable.  We also drive north to Nexpa - a surfing beach above Lazaro Cardenas.  Easy drive on a good highway, but avoid night travel.  It's not a luxury resort beach by any means, but a nice, quiet place to hang out.

After leaving that area, I usually take a bus to Puerto Angel - 400 miles or so south in Oaxaca.  It's a small fishing village on the Pacific.  The weather there is a bit warmer, but the nights are usually comfortable.  Again, not a luxury area, but more authentic Mexican experience.

Check any good travel guide for these locations.

    Will

  3. Coolest? Rocky Point or Cabo, both are just beginning to grow as towns so you will be able to find non-touristic places around the corner from the thouristic areas. Zihuatanejo (spelling's right btw) is a lot warmer than Mazatlan, actually, from Puerto Vallarta and on (south) it just gets hotter!

  4. Acapulco has great weather. It draws alot of Mexicans because it has prices for all budgets, food lodging ect. If you do go to Acapulco dont miss Pie de la Cuesta - about 20 mins. on the north side of town. Best beach I think in Acapulco is Playa Diana. Large rocks break up the usual beach scene and slope of beach is gradual others are steep. Dont bother with Puerta Marquis - small and a little dirty. Colleta on the north end is also rather small. Stick with Acapulco and definatly check out the HUGE waves and deserted beach of the Pie................
