Coolmore sends out a massively talented team for the Dubai World Cup night
After the American contingent poised to raid the Meydan field for the Dubai World Cup card on 31 March, 2012, there is one more racing unit which cannot slip itself past the radar from Ireland to Dubai, and that team is the strongest racing team ever assembled
under the banner of Coolmore.
The team will leave for Dubai this month from the Coolmore’s Ballydoyle training center in Ireland, as it was confirmed on 1 March, 2012, that Ballydoyle has accepted invitations and are ready to send seven top notch runners to the Carnival.
The Dubai World Cup night will be uplifted by the inclusion of the eight time group 1 winner, So You Think. Aidan O’Brien trained runner has earned the top honours twice in Australia, and has been in scintillating form in Europe last year, when he went on
to notch three group 1 races there.
The versatile horse’s career has spanned to three continents to date, and has earned $7,587,459 with 12 wins out of 20 starts. He will be the main attraction for the $10 million Dubai World Cup at over Meydan’s all-weather track at about 1 ¼ miles.
The 5-year-old son of Montjeu, St Nicholas Abbey is also part of the Coolmore team to compete in five different races on the Dubai World Cup card with the combined purse money of $28 million.
The bay horse out of mare Leaping Water by Sure Blade is coming off a victory in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf defeating the Sir Michael Stoute trained, Sea Moon by 2 ¼ lengths.
The 2009 champion juvenile in Europe is pointed toward the Group 1, $5 million Dubai Sheema Classic on grass over a distance of 1 ½ miles.
The 4-year-old Galileo bay colt, Treasure Beach will also start in the Dubai Sheema Classic. His last win was in the Grade 1 Secretariat Stakes last year in August at Arlington Park.
The rest of the contingent includes the five time group 1 winner, Fame and Glory, who is pointed toward the Group 3, $1 million Dubai Gold Cup. Aidan O’Brien’s newly turned sophomore colts Wrote and Daddy Long Legs will participate in the 1 3/16 miles long
Group 2, $2 million UAE Derby.
Last but not the least, Await the Dawn will look to leave a mark in the Group 1, $5 million Dubai Duty Free at about 1 1/8 miles. He was last seen setting the pace in the Breeders’ Cup Turf after wilting to finish seventh on the day.
The multiple stakes winning runner will complete the Coolmore lineup for the Dubai World Cup Card.
