  1. Unfortunately the Cooper is extremely popular right now for its "newness" and it's MPG rating.  If your buying new the dealer will not go lower than the sticker price without a lot of nagging.  I do know this stay away from and minis with automatic trans.

Other than the MPG attractiveness I don't understand why it got so popular all of the sudden.  The cars have been out for years now.  Used prices on this car is WAY over priced right now.  But soon the cars will just be another car is the sea of makes and models and the hype will be over.  It happened with the Miata and the PT cruizer and other "retro" cars and new designs like the Sion.  All thoes cars went from "cool ohhhh neet" to YAWN.

  2. You'll find the pricing on the www.MINIUSA.com website. Most dealerships out there are pretty true to the website, others will be charging anywhere from $999 to $4000 over MSRP for certain models. Keep in mind that BMW make more 3 series BMW for the U.S.A. than MINI makes for the entire world. So from the previous post above mine about the model dying out like the Miata and the PT Cruiser, that won't happen. MINI will not flood the market with their vehicle. They will always keep the production low to keep the demand high, and also in turn keep the resale value VERY high. What other car has made the KBB.com list for the highest resale value every year since 2003?

Getting a MINI for the listed MSRP shouldn't be too difficult. But, do some shopping around and you'll see the differences between the MINI dealerships, cause not all MINI dealerships are created equal.

Oh, and do stay away from the 2002-2006 CVT transmissions found in the Cooper and the Cooper Convertible. They are really bad. The newer transmissions are made by ASIN and are bullet proof.
