Question:

Coordinating colors with exposed brick walls and hardwood floors?

I am looking to paint my boring, white walls! I'm not concerned about having it match with my furniture b/c I am getting new stuff soon. Only problem is that I can't figure out what colors will coordinate with my exposed brick walls and hardwood floors. Any ideas? The brick is a red/orange color.

  1. are your floors dark or light hardwood?

try an eggplant color, it looks great against brick.  also, any deep browns if your floors are light, if dark, go with grays or golds.

  2. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think "sticks & stones" (# 7503) would look terrific with the brick & the wood.

You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

  3. Beautiful! Blues and greens would be very complimentary to the brick.  I would suggest going after some paint swatches and see which colors you like best.
