  1. Cops will harrass you. No matter what. Thats what they do. There are good cops and there are bad cops, and you have to just accept that cops will verbally (and maybe even physically) harass you, because its their job to arrest people, and they'll do whatever it takes to get the job done, even if its cause for provoking it.

You not saying anything back is a good move. Technically he cannot threaten you with violence, but he will, so just make sure you are always on your p's and q's with the coppers.

  2. He can say that. Just like I can tell you "If you busted into my house, I'd be quick to grab a gun and come after you!"

He's just stating what he would have done had the situation been different. It's not exactly him threatening you.

  3. It is not direct enough to be threatening bodily harm or curse and abuse, both illegal but it is unprofessional for him to say.  Although if you really think about it, it is good for an officer to be human and speak to you like that.  Think if you had a daughter and saw some guy kissing her after raising her for years, wouldn't you be ticked.

But just get over it.  I am sure you have said worse things than that in your mind about him or wishing you would have said it, so does that make you a bad person.  No, it just makes you human.

  4. Cops will do and say as they please, legal or not.

  5. It's not something a professional police officer should be saying. While it doesnt cross the illegal line as far as being criminal, he should keep his opinions to himself.

  6. Yes, it is called freedom of speech.  It is legal, but not polite.  He was just trying to make you aware that there are consequences to your actions and that some fathers may not like what you did.

  7. Of course he can say that! He's the cop.
