Hmm yeah I got pulled over on a sat. morning at 2a.m. (fri. night to me) by a local cop. He said my window tints were illegal (i bought the car like that). Now i've driven past many cops - sitting and driving behind, infront, beside etc. No other cop has pulled me over for the winow tint. Its just weird how its a FRIDAY NIGHT that a TEENAGER gets pulled over...So now i'm trying to fight it, but i'm getting mixed answers on Penndot's site about window tint.

Here is one link (you'll need adobe reader):

http://www.dot3.state.pa.us/pdotforms/fact_sheets/fs-sun.pdf

Here is another on someone's website. I believe he put it up because of the bullcrap he got with his window tints.

http://www.dot3.state.pa.us/pdotforms/fact_sheets/fs-sun.pdf

He (the cop) said the legal limit in PA is 30%. I'm reading in the PENNDOT website that its 70%.

(btw i got a 1999 Ford Escort Sedan SE). The cop SAID w/o getting any meter out that my tint is 70%. Now i'm tryin to fight it. Thanks for help

  1. 2 am...He probably really stopped you to check you for alcohol and used the tint issue as an excuse.  Get rid of the tint and you will get rid of just one more excuse they can use to stop you for.  When I was a teenager, I was frequently pulled over too.  I soon learned that I had to cover all issues: equipment, driving, speed, safe operation, etc.  It isn't fair but it is not going to change.  Good luck, drive safely.

  2. 70% of the light that hits the window must be able to pass through it....that's what the link says.

so...the tint can filter out up to 30% of the light that hits the window legally.

i'm thinking that your arguement with jonny law is a waste of time.

take it to court...the judge will probably see it the cops way (they probably golf together).

you can fight city hall (been there done that)...just awful tough to win.
