Copa America 2011 – Team of the tournament: Luis Suarez, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-c11058 Lugano and more (Part 1)
Copa America recently came to a close with another title win for Uruguay in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Uruguay-c3035 held their own throughout the tournament
and in the end gained an emphatic final victory over Paraguay in the pen-ultimate match of the 2011 Copa http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390. There were different players from various sides who impressed in the tournament as a whole. Let’s thus take a look at our team of the tournament
and the players that make it up...
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paraguay-c2979 – Goalkeeper)
Paraguay’s captain and their leader throughout the tournament, the fact that probably surprised everyone in the South American underdogs’ progression to the final was that they didn’t even win a single match in regulation time
throughout the Copa America 2011 competition. Villar’s team won against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 in the quarterfinals on a penalty shootout; in the semi-finals they needed the luck of the penalty kicks once again to make it to the final.
Villar’s heroics in the quarters as well as the semis need to be acknowledged as he put himself on the line time and again to keep his team in the competition like a true talisman. In the final, Villar played with a wrecked body
as he was unable to take most of the goal kicks for his team but throughout the tournament, the Paraguayan shot stopper proved his determined mindset and his impeccable talents as a goalkeeper for the Copa America 2011 finalists.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maxi-Pereira-c25004 (Uruguay – Right back)
Uruguay’s success in the Copa America 2011 is not a by product of a single player leading them throughout the tournament but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oscar-c28720 Tabarez’s outfit performed throughout the competition as a team and that team consisted of brilliant
individuals like Maxi Pereira. The Uruguay full back showcased that he can be considered as good as some of his European counterparts such as Phillip Lahm throughout his tireless running throughout the competition in Argentina. Uruguay’s attack which lacked
width up front depended on players like Pereira to drive forward from the back whilst also keeping a keen eye on their defensive duties.
Pereira balanced both of his responsibilities to a large extent. He was tenacious in tackle at the back and comfortable with the ball at his feet in the opposition’s half of the field as well. Pereira’s multiple talents complimented
by his Park Ji Sung like stamina was invaluable to Uruguay when they battled against Argentina with ten men in the quarterfinals and finally knocked out the hosts through a penalty shootout win.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oswaldo-Vizcarrondo-c28839 (Venezuela – Centre back)
The Venezuelan centre back was one of the stars to emerge out of Copa America 2011 in Argentina after he led his team to a semi-final appearance against Paraguay. Oswaldo was certainly not a house hold name throughout the footballing
world before the tournament but the 27 year old helped http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Venezuela-c3039 in some tight situations in the tournament. His towering height and muscular approach at the back created problems for strikers and his aerial strength was particularly helpful to Venezuela’s
as it was exhibited when he rose above everyone else against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chile-c2871 to head his team into the semi-finals.
