Copa http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Colombia-c2873 vs Peru – Colombia
After going into the game with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peru-c2981 as being the favourites, Colombia went on to suffer two goals in extra time, to see their hopes of lifting the Copa America bite the dust.
Here is a look at the performances of the players, to better assess the situation:
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martinez-c24468: The Colombian keeper had a rather bizarre game. He started off looking highly impressive, but as the game progressed he seemed to forget how to keep. His blunders in extra time, ultimately cost his team the game.
Yepes and Perea: The two Colombian centre backs had a pretty solid game. They both made decent tackles and even got forward often. However, Yepes missed far too many headers, when connecting with corners and he could have really made a difference had he
been on target.
Armero and Zuniga: The two full-backs had really good games. They got up ahead to help out with the attack often and then went on to track back with just as much enthusiasm. Nonetheless, both of them were on a number of occasions caught by the trickery of
the Peru http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Attackers-c38555 and there wasn’t much they could do, to cope with them.
Sanchez and Aguilar: The two more central midfielders for the Colombians went on to have decent games. They helped create a number of passes and got up ahead into the opposition half frequently.
Guarin: The more attacking midfielder could be described as the Colombians, man of the match. He has an injury scare in the second-half and even looked to win the game in stoppage time of the second-half. Unfortunately, his efforts ended up falling short
of the mark for his team.
Ramos, Moreno and Falcao: The three forwards were lively, but not very effective. Moreno was by far the best of the lot as his pace and control seemed to constantly threaten the Peru back-line. At the same time, this was probably Falcao’s worst performance
in recent history and his missed penalty was the icing on the cake for his display in the game.
Substitutes: Rodallega, Gutierrez and Martinez: Rodallega displayed some creativity up front and even proved to act as a catalyst to the Colombian attack. On the other hand, Gutierrez and Martinez barely spent any time on the pitch, to make a significant
contribution to the game.
