Copa Del Rey: Real Madrid vs. Levante – Match Preview
Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid put up a great fight against Sevilla over the weekend and emerged victorious to keep pace with league leaders Barcelona. Any other side might have crumbled under the pressure, but the 10-man Madrid side
kept their cool and emerged victors with a 1-0 score line. Their upcoming task is to beat Levante in the Copa del Rey fixture.
This trophy is especially important for Jose Mourinho, since it has not been won at Real Madrid in over 20 years. The Portuguese manager is determined to have his name in the books by bringing the trophy to the Bernabeu. He made
that clear when he stated that he would be the one who would end Madrid’s cup drought and seems to have already started working towards that.
More than anything, Mourinho will be looking to prove himself in the cup fixture; the Madrid manager faced heavy criticism when his side lost to rivals Barcelona. However, they did recover after that, but Mourinho will want to
see more from his side in this cup fixture. The Special One will be expecting a big win over the lowly Levante side, which was recently reintroduced to the top flight.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 based side have just managed to make it out of the relegation zone in time for Christmas, but are not yet out of danger. Even though the Primera Division will be their main objective, a Copa del Rey in their trophy
cabinet won’t be too bad. Since Levante have nothing to lose in this fixture against the Spanish giants, the side will be somewhat fearless, giving Madrid a tough time.
Their latest fixture over the weekend against Athletic Bilbao ended in a disappointing 2-1. Levante were surprisingly in good form and presented a tough challenge for the top opposition. Possession was somewhat equally shared,
but the hosts could not get past the tough defence and their superiority in midfield went to waste. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Felipe-Caicedo-c13525 scored the only goal for his side, despite their countless shots on goal.
Levante coach Luis Garcia was hopeful for the big fixture, he said while speaking to reporters about the upcoming game, “We have to come out alive and have options in the second leg. This is a great time and we can take advantage
to make history.” For Garcia’s side to beat or even draw with Madrid, they would have to be focused, determined and in form.
