Copa Del Rey - Sevilla vs. Malaga – Second Half Report (Part 1)
With the second half starting, both the coaches decided not to change anything being satisfied with their team’s performance so far. Malaga were leading with a single goal after the action pact first half finished. The score line was 2-3 and despite the
fact that Sevilla were the ones who took first blood, Malaga looked to be having the last laugh after the first half.
The second half started with the same pace and both the teams looked to be thirsty for more goals. Sevilla desperately needed to equalize; however, it would be useless for them because Malaga had scored 3 away goals which went into books as their advantage.
Malaga, on the other hand did not come out with a defensive strategy even in the second half. They had the same eagerness towards scoring more goals as they were spreading the ball out wide to find the space on the field to make more creative moves in order
to score more goals.
With the second half starting at the same pace, both the teams gave more of an offensive license to most of their players in order to find the back of the net. However, with this there was a bigger chance of counter attacks occurring. Nonetheless with an
attacking side like Sevilla; the counter-attacks-factor was laid aside as they kept on pressing forward trying to find the equalizer against the visiting side Malaga.
Sevilla simply looked out of touch compared to their successful last season. Last season they managed to win against teams like Real Madrid while ending in the top four to secure a UEFA Champions League spot. However, this year they suffered due to injuries
that were taken by their two main players; namely Kanoute and Jesus Navas. It was clear that they were finding it hard to score goals while both of them were away and not performing for the Spanish side.
Till the 56th minute, the Sevilla coach saw that Malaga were making it difficult for them to score; therefore, he decided to bring on his main-man Kanoute in place of the Brazilian striker Luis Fabiano. Kanoute missed out the match against Real
Madrid as he was rested because of the injury he suffered a week before. With Kanoute injected on the pitch, the home side finally started to play positive football.
It only took them 10 minutes to find the goal that they were craving for. It was with the help of their striker Kanoute, however it was not him who got the name on the score board. A very well constructed move during the 66th goal helped the home
team put the game on level terms. It was Kanoute who toppled Recio to make a run forward. After getting past his marker, the Sevilla captain gave a wonderful through ball towards the running midfielder, Romaric. The midfield magician showed great skill on
the ball as he shot it with his weaker left foot and got it past the Malaga goalkeeper to make the score line 3-3.
