Copenhagen Masters 2012: Jan O Jorgensen beats Hu Yun to claim Men’s Singles title
Jan O Jorgensen, who is one of the most experienced and aggressive shuttlers from Denmark, cheered his home fans as he claimed Men’s Singles title after defeating Hong Kong’s Hu Yun at Yonex Copenhagen Masters 2012 on Friday, December 28, in Denmark.
The World Number 11 Jan, who has got what it takes to become a world beater, showed his class on the final day when he outplayed his higher ranked opponent Yun who has positioned at number 10 in the world.
Jan was in smashing form as he played with incredible speed and wonderful control in his shots and remained successful in winning the match in straight sets with a crushing margin on the board.
On the other hand, Yun tried his best to play his normal game but failed to break the rhythm of his in-form local opponent and eventually lost the final match in a lopsided fashion with humiliating margin.
The impressive Jan performed remarkably well from the initial points of first set as he played with wonderful speed and grabbed the control.
Danish shuttler was quite comfortable in getting the bird timely and he did not encounter any complication in executing his strokes in targeted areas.
Jan stayed in dictating position all the way in the opening half and he established a superb lead until the one-minute break.
After the mid-game interval, the impressive Jan stayed focused in the arena and remained successful in keeping a comfortable lead on the board.
The positive and aggressive play of Jan enabled him to keep his challenger on back foot and he eventually grabbed the first game with a one-sided 21-12 score on the board.
In the second set, Yun worked hard to find his flow but failed to play positive badminton as he could not place his shots in right areas and remained struggling until the one-minute break.
After the interval, the in-form Danish shuttler continued proving his worth in front of local crowd and took the second game with a lopsided margin of 21-11.
Jan made his home fans happy as he won the Men’s Singles title after crushing Yun in the final encounter with a one-sided 21-12 and 21-11 total on the board.
