Copenhagen Masters: Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen clinch Men’s Doubles title easily
Denmark’s top seeds, Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen, faced no trouble at all in winning Men’s Doubles title at the home event of 2011 Copenhagen Masters.
In the final match, the Danish duo slaughtered Malaysia’s Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif and Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari on Thursday, December 29, in Denmark.
Boe and Mogensen, who have been currently ranked at number three in the Men’s Doubles world standings, played remarkable badminton against Zakry Latif and Fairuzizuan Tazari and won the match without facing strong resistance.
The Malaysian pair did not put up strong show as they failed to dominate the game. The control of the Danish duo was impressive throughout the contest. Boe and Mogensen ended the match in straight games by playing for just 36 minutes in the court.
The contest was thrilling between both experienced pairs in the opening half. However, Danish shuttlers controlled the game in the end and won the set narrowly. It was a smooth sailing for Boe and Mogensen in the second set as they took it with a completely
one-sided score.
Boe and Mogensen tried their best to establish a comfortable lead in the opening rallies of first game but failed as their Malaysian challengers also played well and remained close until the score reached at 10-10. The Malaysians were ahead at 11-10 until
the 60-second break.
After the break, Zakry Latif and Fairuzizuan Tazari played positive game and stretched their lead to reach at 13-10. At this stage, Boe and Mogensen geared up their speed at net and started to dominate the pace of rallies. They played to their maximum potential
and levelled the score at 17-17.
At this crucial stage, the Malaysians did not play fast game which helped the Danish pair to dominate the pace. Boe and Mogensen did not miss any chance to score points and maintained pressure on their rivals. They won the set with a decent 21-18 score on
the board.
In the second game, the Malaysians could only manage to remain close until the score reached at 5-5. At this stage, Boe and Mogensen were in complete control of the game and dictated their opponents to move around in the court.
The Danish shuttlers played impressive badminton throughout the second set and ended it with a stunning score of 21-9. The final result of this Men’s Doubles title match was 21-18 and 21-9.
