Copier does not finish copying

Question

I own a Xerox 214 digital copier.  When copying a single sheet on the glass, the paper sucks up into the cartridge and starts coming out like it should.  However as it passes thru only 2 inches of the page is copied and then the machine stops.  It displays a U9 code.  I have opened the left door and cleared the paper out.  I have tried to copy 3 times by powering the machine off and starting it up again to clear the code.  Each time I get the same result (only 2 inches copied). 

 

What can I do?  Is there a timing issues in the gears?
