where to go to search the 1920 durant roll of Sag chippewa members. Is there anywhere on line to find the durant roll, or does a person have to go to Mount Pleasent to search for them?

  1. The Bentley Historical Library at CMU has a copy. The Saginaw Chippewa Tribal offices have a copy. Hoyt Library in Saginaw has a few years. Both the National Archives and the Library of Michigan have copies and I believe if you're in Michigan you can order a copy from the Library of Michigan through your local library through Interlibrary loan. If you're in the Detroit area, you can go to the Burton Collection at the Main branch of the Detroit Public Library or the Henry Ford Centennial Library in Dearborn. There are also copies at U-M in Ann Arbor and MSU in East Lansing. The LDS Family History Centers around the country should also be able to order a copy for you.

If you want to email me, I'd be glad to help you find the resources you need from wherever you are. I'm very much familiar with the Saginaw tribe and would be more than happy to help you find the resources in your area so you don't have to drive all the way to Isabella if you're not in the area. Sadly, the Little Traverse and Bay Mills records have been transcribed. But the person assigned the Saginaw/Isabella transcription got half way through and stopped. She fell off the face of the earth and there wasn't another transcriptionist available to take over right away. So our tribe fell to the bottom of the GenWeb project's list.
