  1. it does make a diferance and of course the more $$$ you have invested the more you will notice the diferance in detail now a 24k gold coating is used  you pay for what you get

  2. For the most part, speaker wires are mostly smoke and mirrors. This is especially true with surround speakers. As long as youre using halfway decent cable, that's good enough. I do use premium cable for my mains and my center channel, but the surrounds wont matter. Keep your cable lengths as short as possible, use PROPER speaker placement, good source material. Put your speakers on good speaker stands or have good isolation mounts if their hung. A cheaper and more effective way to improve your sound would be to open the speakers up and deaden the cabinet with viscoelastic paint (roof paint or car underseal works great) or with the sound deadening material (lead and tar layered in sandwiches) that people put in car doors. Dont just stuff the cabinets with foam, that will make it sound worse. Thats something cheap and easy that can be done by ANYONE.

  3. I tend to agree with Harrison.

The "copper" and "Silver" in speaker wire is just surface so you can tell the "+" vs the "-" at both ends.  (The silver side is NOT really silver).

  4. Don't bother with monster (overpriced, no real advantage .... just hype). Use good quality all copper 14 - 16 guage polarized wire. The wire where one is silver is ok but the silver is aluminum and copper is a better choice. I get mine at Home Depot (but don't tell anyone, they think I buy it at Tweeter ;-))

  5. Does not make a difference, although I have way overpriced cables with my system because  it worth more than most.

You dont rubber floor mats in a ferrari even though they do just as good a job as fabric floor mats

One good thing about copper/silver wire is your less likely to get the pos+/neg- mixed up
