Copperhead Golf Course: A perfect venue for the Transitions Championship
The Transitions Championship is scheduled to start from March 15 to 18, at the amazing and sensational site of the Copperhead Golf Course, at the Innisbrook Resort and Spa, Palm Harbor in Florida.
This tournament is staged by the Professional Golf Association every year. The field is competitive and all the players will be striving hard to achieve the title and the purse of $5,500,000.
Out of the total sum, the winner will earn $990,000 and additional 500 FedEx Cup points.
“Innisbrook couldn’t be more proud to host such a well-respected PGA TOUR event. It certainly draws attention to our award-winning Copperhead Golf Course and to the resort,” Ramona Hurley, Innisbrook Spokesperson, said.
Some famous and most idolised players like Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood and Phil Mickelson are not in the field.
Their absence may be considered negative for the Transitions Championship.
However, the field is still competitive and a huge number of spectators are arriving at the Palm Harbor.
Another reason behind the tournaments’ popularity is the venue of the Copperhead Golf Course at Innisbrook Resort and Spa.
The Innisbrook Resort and Spa was established in 1970. It is owned by Salamander Hospitality and provides many facilities for the golfers and for the spectators alike.
Some prominent facilities include lodging, housing, restaurants and other amenities.
Another best part is the location, which is 20 miles from Tampa International Airport in Florida.
The amazing location is the most appealing part of it. On the other hand, it is the most competitive and one of the toughest golf courses in the US.
The Copperhead Golf Course is a 71 par, 7,340 yards and is rated 76.8/144. Such amazing factors make it one of the best in the US and the favourite of many.
"The best we play on the PGA Tour" Paul Azinger, the Ryder Cup captain said. Curtis Strange has said he could play "every day for the rest of my life and enjoy".
It is also ranked in the top 100 ratings and renowned as "America's Top Resort Courses" by Golf Digest, as well.
All the features, tree-lined fairways, bunkers, trees, firm and fast greens and tee-off swing spots are amazing. Similarly, the lakes, ponds and water hazards also make it a complete golfing venue.
The live threat for the entire professionals who will tee off at the Transitions Championship begins on March 15.
It is not that easy to play on such a high rated and tough golf course, without giving full concentration towards it.
The most appealing hole of the course is the par-5 no, 5. The 605 yards hole is the toughest and has many hurdles in between, from tee to the green.
Most of the past records on the fifth hole show bogeys and pars sometimes. However, to score a birdie there is an uphill task and many players have failed while trying.
"It has a huge uphill elevation change from the tee to the landing area," Jay Overton, the Director of Golf, said.
He added, "You have a blind shot for your second shot going over the hill. Then the green slopes away from you as you make your approach shot".
Hence, both the PGA tournaments and the Copperhead Golf Course are adding values to each other.
Spectators love to watch such an appealing event. It is a complete package, full of entertainment and a perfect place to visit. However, golfers may find some difficulties while performing on the course.
