Copperwood confident to claim victory in July 4th Handicap
Copperwood is quite confident to claim the ace title of the We Race Again On July 4th Handicap that will take place at Catterick racecourse on Friday, June 8. The Class 5 contest over the distance of 7 furlongs will commence at 5:30 (GMT).
The Mark Johnston-trained veteran gelding has won 8 of his total 62 starts so far. The seven-year-old maverick sprinter has been enjoying great form since the dawn of the calendar year.
During February-March, the talented runner bagged a couple of consecutive triumphs. First, he notched up top spot in the Bet At Blue Square Handicap on February 25. This race was held at Lingfield. Against 7 contestants, he showed a big run to thrive.
The skilled horse moved on to finish first again in the very next race named as Cheltenham Festival Free Bets With Freebetting.CO.UK Handicap. This high-profile event was hosted by Southwell track on March 14. He again defeated 7 strong rivals over there.
The month of May also proved to be greatly successful for the gelding. After getting a third position and a runner-up rank in the first half of the month, the brilliant son of Bahamian Bounty out of Sophielu marvellously lifted the title of Good Luck To
Hearts Tomorrow Handicap on May 18.
Capitalising on the momentum produced by these epic feats, Copperwood will compete confidently against 11 competitors such as Viking Warrior, Nufoudh, Cara’s Request, Hoppy’s Flyer, Charles De Mille, No Quarter, It’s A Mans World, Whats For Pudding, Endless
Applause, Balti’s Sister and Oakbrook.
The winner will be awarded the cash prize worth £2,386.
Among the other runners, Viking Warrior will also endeavour for success. The Michael Dods-trained gelding has won 3 of his total 20 starts so far. His last victory came in September 2011. Since then, he has gained two runner-up ranks along with two thirds
in a row.
The talented horse can give enough tough time to Copperwood. Thus, there will be a fierce battle between the duo.
Let us enjoy a heated action at Catterick. Good luck to all the contestants who are going to enthral today.
