Question:

Cops asking contact details, California?

I was in my car parked near office. I usually come and have lunch in my car and listen to music. Somebody found me regularly parking and my activities suspicious. They called the cops and the cops collected my contact information. The cops said that its just that there are some activities going on in that area and somebody was suspicious about me. Although the cops did not find any problem, I hope they don't call me if anything happens in that area. Kindly advice on this matter

  1. I would take the facts at face value ... the police were acting in a "better safe than sorry" manner.

If you have a legitimate reason to be there, then no worries. If you don't "belong" there, I would stay away. You don't want to get caught up in the mysterious whatever's going on, anyway.

  2. If you have a legitimate reason to be there, and you did, then they may call and ask if you witnessed anything. I wouldn't expect them to accuse you of any wrongdoing.

  3. I'm not sure what kind of advice you're looking for.

The police had contact with you.  I assume it was civil and appropriate because you didn't suggest otherwise.

You gave the police some information and they left.

You're hoping they don't call you if anything happens in that area.

What kind of advice do you need?  Seems to me it's a done deal.

  4. Agree with trooper3.

Add your name is most likely to stay with the Department making

the initial inquiry so don't expect silent black aircraft to hover nightly

overhead from busy folks with long acronyms and less appitude.
