Copy vhs or mini tapes to DVD what speed should be in place? I should be able to place several hrs but can't

I'm using sp but I'm only able to save approx. 2 hrs of play on the dvd. I am interested in knowing how to get the Best Quailty when copying?

2 hours is standard, and will create a DVD that can be played in other DVD and computer players. many recorders have extended recording modes, but not only is quality reduced, the DVD may not work in other players.
