Copying Downloaded Movies To DVD (Complicated)?

hi.straight to the point.i download xvid and avi torrent files,cause those type files are generally hassel free and work with windows med player straight up.now i copy these files to a dvd-r which are suppose to work on 97% of players.now these ripped dvds work on my home player no worries and computer.but on the computer on my desk at work,the windows media will only play sound but not visual,infact the pattern visualisations show.so i thought ok theres a lock or something on the computer.but just now i used a ripped dvd-r in the same computer from someone i dont know and it works fine.the only difference i can see is in the dvds contents under properties hes using B.U.P files.what are these files?do i need plug-ins to make my ripped dvds working?any help and opinions please?thankyou.

That's because you dont have the proper video codecs installed in you other computer. download them XVID and DIVX the most used.
